Thomas was alone is a 2D platformer game based on different coloured shapes with different abilities to complete the level.
The developers of the game are Mike Bithell, Bossa Studios, Curve Digital.
This game is available on PS3&4, Xbox One, PS Vita, Android, PC, Mac and Wii U.
The genre of the game Thomas was alone is a 2D platformer and the style of the game was really blocky and simple with a cool moving background. The game work in an interesting way such as using different squares and rectangles to get through the level and not being able to touch the water otherwise you dissolve into a bunch of partials.
I didn’t listen to games audio but my friend did and said that the music was quite relaxing.,
In my opinion, the game is really good but can get a bit repetitive also I don’t understand why this game is on PlayStation and Xbox it’s just an ordinary 2D platformer and although I played the demo I still found it a bit boring and shouldn’t be on a console such as PS or Xbox. Out of 5 stars, I give it 3
To improve the game they could use more shape.

The game was designed as a 2D puzzle platformer. the platforms that you play on are black which help focus your attentions on the blocks your moving. The background behind the black platforms are a nice dull colour and blends in nicely the black platforms, there is also this light that is blocked by objects creating a cool shadow effect.
The characters are in a variety of shapes and colour which distinguish them from one another but there are too many of the characters and you can get really confused on which on to use.
When it comes to levels themselves they are good all different yet so similar to one another
The text in the game is good easy to read and in no point of the game does the text blend in with the background but it may get annoying after a will because the player wants to complete the game and not read the text scattered around the screen.
The game is fantastic a very good idea for a game but it can get a bit repetitive after a while and I don't get why it's on PlayStation and Xbox it's just an indie game.

Mine Evaluation On My Research
The way I research this game was though playing the demo of Thomas was alone and watching playthroughs of random you-tubers on the game and maybe googling what console can you play the game on and who created it. I also created a mood-board which helped me wright about the design of the game and the text. All went well surprisingly I was able to find the right research and it wasn't that hard. I found it difficult to write all of this but I tried and did my best hope this all isn't terrible.
I will use this research to create a level of my own.
Mock-up

Original

My mockup looks slightly slimmer to the original design of Thomas is alone but the colour is a bit of along with the size of Thomas and Laura.
The program I used to recreate this level was Photoshop. To recreate the level first I used the gradient tool and the eyedropper tool. With the eyedropper tool I picked out the colour from the original image (the lightest and the darkest) next I used the gradient tool I placed the colour on the layer. Second I created two brushes a rectangle and a square and used the rectangle brush to draw the black platforms on a new layer. Once that was done again on a new layer I created the shadows using the polygonal lasso tool. After, using the square brush I add the squares that you can see in the back ground. Second, last I created the water and last I added in Thomas and Laura.
If I had, to be honest, I found this all easy but maybe the squared background may have been a bit difficult
If I'd had to do this mockup again I'll make it look more like the real thing.

This is the level I designed that is part of Thomas was alone. first, let's start off with the characters. The red and pink squares are Cora and Nora they are sisters and they move at the same time as one another. The big green rectangle is Robert (Bob for short) he can go into the water and create a green force field which stops any coloured projectiles but once the force field is activated Bob cant move so the others will be able to push him. The small yellow rectangle is Chloe she can shoot projectiles to destroy other projectiles (that's a bit of a mouth full). Now to the mechanics, the blue arrows change the gravity of the level. When the arrows are clicked Nora and Cora swap positions also the water will also be affected by the gravity switch. another mechanic is the projectiles, they're scattered around the level and they change colours which affect the characters differently. Green hurt everyone but bob (can block them all with force field). Pink hurts everyone but Cora. Red hurts everyone but Nora and yellow hurts everyone but Chloe.
This is what the level looks like coloured in. the colours I used are the opposite of the colour scheme used in Thomas was alone I did this to avoid getting copyrighted and because Thomas was alone colour scheme is quite gloomy and sad looking.
Evaluation
The project was to create a level for Thomas was alone.
First, I research the game by playing it and later on researching who made it and what type of game it is on Google. I did this to get some information on the game before I start creating the level. Later on a piece of paper, I wrote what characters I will use and what mechanics I will or will not add to the level. Once that was done I drew the howl level on an A3 piece of paper. I did this to plan my level so that I know what to put on my level and where to put it. Last I scanned the level in using a scanner so that I could develop and colour it in Photoshop to make it look better.
The skills I developed are Photoshop, drawing on paper and doing a better job in researching. I used google, Photoshop and drawing by hand.
these skills helped me research and create the level you see up top.
My most successful skill as Photoshop and drawing because I did it before so it would be easier to use.
My least successful skill was researching this is because there were not enough websites to look at and I don't want to use Wikipedia because it can be easily changed.
If I could improve my level id make it bigger and add one more character. I think that would make the level look more difficult and more interesting.
